Bergen

Today we were on our own in Bergen.  Lots to see.  This is the fortress.  The hall here is the oldest non church building in Bergen built in the 1200's.  It was partially destroyed when a German ship exploded in the harbor during WW2.  It has been restored to it's origianl condition.
All of the buildings were built of wood.  This is the Bryggen section of town where the German's had the trading warehouses.  It has burned many times   It is had to tell how old this last restoration is but the buildings are all leaning and very old..
Typical of Bergen housings today.
